CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a method of treating anxiety etc. by gradually exposing the patient to the things causing the anxiety. It is used to treat phobias, like snakes or spiders, compulsive behavior and depression and more. Therapist Katy Morton explains what CBT is in this video.

Have you had any experience with CBT? Did it work?

I have experience with it. It works if you are willing to put in the time and effort. I was given ”homework” to do every week, which included reading, keeping logs, exercises, etc. It also takes a lot of time, so it is a commitment but worth it for sure.

I went to a course in CBT. I think it was six group meetings where they explained CBT and let us do exercises as well as voluntary home assignments. It convinced me that it works when used to treat what it’s meant to treat. 🙂
